SolSot in Yeonnam-dong specializes in kamameshi and is a restaurant I often take customers to. Each pot is cooked to order, with the aroma of scorched rice. Mix the rice while it is hot, then transfer it to a bowl to eat.
At the end of the meal, add hot water to the pot and let it sit for a while to turn the scorched rice into a fragrant soup. The menu has spicy and non-spicy options, making it easier for adults, children and older diners to find a pot they like.
Ms Karyl's firsthand tips
The interior is simple and clean, with a bright, comfortable dining space. Each pot of rice is cooked to order, with distinct grains and a toasted aroma from the bottom of the pot. After eating the main ingredients, add hot water and let it sit to make a warming scorched-rice soup to finish the meal.
For a first visit, try the steak rice. If you like rich flavors with a little heat, try the spicy fried chicken rice with cheese.
